Sulphur Creek Trails

Located within the Elkmont Rural Village are the Sulphur Creek Trails. This roughly 20 mile trail system includes a paved walking trail, a green walking trail, various primitive hiking trails, and picturesque horse riding trails.

Paved Walking Trail

In 2012, Alabama Elk River Development Agency was awarded a grant from the Alabama's Recreational Trails Program to pave the 1-mile-long walking trail that meanders along Bob Jones Parkway. This peaceful walking trail is enjoyed by many within the community.

Green Walking Trail

Located just North of the paved walking path is the Elkmont Rural Village green walking trail. This trail connects to various wooded hiking trails as well as the hiking trail that leads to the double waterfalls. During the summer months, blackberry bushes line the edges of the trail.

Hiking Trails

Come explore the area using the many hiking trails that surround the village! While most of the trails are currently unmarked, efforts are being made to increase signage and provide a trail map. In the meantime, please utilize the horse trail map below. We encourage everyone to follow Right of Way Trail Etiquette, while hiking the trails.

Horse Riding Trails

1,400 acres of beautiful trails including hills, creeks, and double waterfalls. Horse riding is available by permit only.
